Zesty Catalina Salad Dressing

Anyone growing up in the 1960's will remember Kraft's Tangy Catalina Salad Dressing. My grandmother used to make this from scratch all the time, so I went searching for her recipe in one of her old cookbook. If you're looking for a trip down memory lane, make your own.

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, loosely packed
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • ¼ teaspoon smoked spanish paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon celery seed
  • ½ teaspoon dry mustard powder
  • 1½ teaspoon grated onion
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ cup white vinegar
  • ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 - 6 ounce can of tomato paste
  • 1 cup vegetable oil

Directions:
Blend all of the ingredients, except the oil, in a blender on high speed. Then slowly add the oil until everything is emulsified. Store dressing in the refrigerator. Shake to blend before serving.

Yield: About 2 cups
